QuickMove - Move files faster and easier
Moving the same type of files from one place to another, on a regular basis, can be tedious work, especially if you have to make your way through a thick layer of folders. QuickMove allows you to automate this action, for specific files or extensions, by creating a series of rules. With the appropriate rules established, it takes a single click to move files, without opening additional explorer windows or navigating down a deep folder structure.
The application is distributed in Free and Pro editions. It does not take long to install it on your computer, but you will need .NET Framework 4.5 on your computer, otherwise the software will not work. QuickMove is designed for Windows 7 and Vista, but you can run it on XP as well.
You can switch between several sections, on the user interface, by clicking a series of navigation tabs, on the left side of the window. The best part is that you won't have to interact with the interface too often. You can only manage existing rules, add folders to a favorites list, view logs and adjust the program's behavior.
New rules are created by right clicking a file, in Windows Explorer, and selecting the appropriate option in the context menu. QuickMove will display a new window, on which you can define your rule. You can set it to move files that match your selected file's name, extension or both. Alternatively, you can set it to process files that match regular expressions. Depending on your settings, the software can process the same type of files, from any folder or from a selected one. Furthermore, it can send the files to a specific folder or it can prompt you to select one from your favorites list.
Rules are executed automatically when you create them. The next time you right click one or more files and select the QuickMove, the software will move the files immediately, according to your rules. It is also possible to set up a few rules to prevent the application from overwriting files.
Pros:
You can move a large number of files, without any prompts or the need to open additional windows. A single rule is sufficient to move files of the same type, at any time, with a simple click. Additional settings can be made to prevent overwriting files with the same name.
Cons:
Certain functions are restricted in the free version.
While using QuickMove, you will never have to navigate through large stacks of folders, when you wish to move your files.
